FAQ
What is a model call?
A model call is an opportunity for a small number of dogs to participate in a portrait session that may be used for portfolio, marketing, or creative projects for Anu Kalle Pet Portraits. It’s a fun way for pet parents to experience a professional photography session and receive beautiful portraits of their dog.
Is the session really complimentary?
Yes. Selected dogs receive a complimentary portrait session along with a $200 artwork credit that can be applied toward prints or wall art.
There is no obligation to purchase anything beyond the credit, but most families choose to invest in additional artwork once they see their images.
What types of dogs are you looking for?
All breeds, sizes, and ages are welcome. I’m primarily looking for dogs with expressive personalities who are comfortable around new environments and enjoy treats or toys.
*Professional training is not required.
Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring your dog’s favorite treats, toys, and a leash. If there’s something special about your dog’s personality that you’d like captured, feel free to mention it when you apply.
My dog is energetic or a little goofy — can they still participate?
Absolutely! Many dogs are playful and energetic. Sessions are designed to be relaxed and fun, with plenty of breaks so your dog can be themselves. Often those spontaneous moments make the most memorable portraits.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions typically take place in Orange County, either in a studio-style setting or at a beautiful outdoor location depending on the project and the dog.
Specific details will be shared with selected participants.
How long does a portrait session take?
Most sessions last 30–60 minutes, depending on the dog and the session style.
We keep the experience light, relaxed, and tailored to your dog’s comfort.
What happens after the session?

After the session, you’ll be invited to view your dog’s portraits and select your favorites. Your $200 artwork credit can be applied toward prints, framed artwork, or other portrait products.
How will I know if my dog is selected?
If your dog is chosen for the model call, you’ll receive an email with the next steps and scheduling details.
*Because space is limited, not all applicants may be selected.
Do I have to purchase artwork?

There is no obligation to purchase beyond the included $200 artwork credit. However, most families fall in love with their dog’s portraits and choose to invest in additional artwork such as framed wall portraits or keepsake prints.
My goal is to create portraits you’ll be proud to display and enjoy for years.
What kinds of products do you offer?
Clients typically choose from a selection of fine-art prints, framed wall portraits, and other custom artwork designed to showcase their dog beautifully at home.
Your $200 credit can be applied toward any of the available artwork options.
Can I include myself or my family in the photos?
Absolutely. While the focus of the model call is your dog, we can often include a few portraits with you and your dog together if you’d like.
Many clients love having at least one portrait that captures the bond they share with their pet.
What if my dog doesn’t know how to “pose”?
That’s completely okay! Most dogs don’t. I use patience, treats, toys, and timing to capture natural expressions and personality. The best portraits often come from those authentic moments.
